Cosy Sheridan (wrap up)

By Greg Pool

Here's a wrap-up of Cosy Sheridan and TR Ritche's visit to the Tree House (pictures of that night):
  • I had first discovered Cosy Sheridan in 1998 at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Kerrville, Texas, where I ran into Dave Carter & Tracy Grammer, Slaid Cleaves, and future Tree House performer, Keith Greeninger.

  • TR Ritchie actually wrote a manual on how to hold a house concert. We hadn't seen it before we booked Cosy, but it turns out we did everything right, according to TR!

  • It was Cosy's first time drinking wine before her performance, and TR let her know she was doing just fine. Welcome to California, Cosy!

  • When they first showed up, TR asked if he could make a run to the Trader Joe's he saw on the way in. TR and Cosy live in Moab, Utah, and evidently it's tough to pick up a case of Two Buck Chuck around town. Or any place else in Utah...

  • Juliet and I offered up our stash of Panda Express fortune cookies, and Cosy's was "You are a buddle of energy, always on the go." That's spot on!

  • Cosy had the coolest ear rings, made from Baskin & Robins 31 Flavors spoons. Evidently she gets in a bit of trouble when she doesn't wear them during a show.

  • After hearing it during the aftershow interview, we lent them Bill Bryson's book on tape about his travels across Australia, In a Sunburned Country, and we tossed in David Ross MacDonald's CD "Southern Crossing," about David's journey from one Aussie luthier to another, playing their best guitars and recording the sessions.

  • I got to wear the perfect t-shirt for the evening, from Life is Good. Thanks to Juliet for getting it for me.

  • Our five month old daughter Sonoma it made halfway through the first set, then crashed the rest of the time. We had the baby monitor on visual throughout the second set, and Juliet had to miss a few songs as Sonoma woke every 20 minutes. She knew something was going on downstairs!
